Graduation Requirements

Senate Bill 2769 (Public Act 93-857) requires all students to take the Prairie State Achievement Examination (PSAE) as a condition of receiving a regular high school diploma. Students classified as Juniors will take the PSAE during the spring semester.

Requirements for Class of 2010, & 2011

  • English - 4.0 credits
  • Mathematics - 3.0 credits
  • Science - 3.0 credits
  • Social Studies - 1.5 credits
  • U.S. History - 1.0 credits
  • Civics - 0.5 credits*
  • Computer Concepts - 0.5 credits
  • Software Applications - 0.5 credits
  • Consumer Education - 0.5 credits
  • Health - 0.5 credits
  • Physical Education - 4.0 credits (includes Health)
  • Electives - 4.0
    • Total Credits - 23.0**

    *passing of the U.S. and Illinois Constitution is also required for graduation.

    **attendance at Career Center adds an extra credit to graduation per year of attendance.

    • English - 4.0 credits
    • Mathematics - 3.0 credits
    • Science - 3.0 credits
    • Social Studies - 1.0 credits
    • U.S. History - 1.0 credits
    • American Government - 1.0 credits*
    • Computer Concepts - 0.5 credits
    • Software Applications - 0.5 credits
    • Consumer Education - 0.5 credits
    • Health - 0.5 credits
    • Physical Education - 4.0 credits (includes Health)
    • Electives - 4.0

    • Total Credits - 23.0**

    Students are classified according to the toal credits they have accumulated as follows:
    Freshman: Until 6 units of credit are earned
    Sophomore: 6 and until 12 units of credit are earned
    Junior: 12 and until 18 units of credit are earned
    Senior: 18 and until 23 units of credit are earned
